Week 1, Card 1, Summer Card Camp 2

I'm being optamistic in my title. I hope I'll be able to find the time to create more than one card following the sketches, colors and techniques this week for the Summer Card Camp class at Online Card Classes !

I followed sketch 1, flipping it to horizontal. I am happy that the class is pushing me to try things that I would have given up on in normal circumstances. I had come up with the idea of using the dies and stamps, but didn't realize until I started looking more closely that they wouldn't fit on a vertical card. So, instead of giving up, I turned the card and made a shorter & wider banner.

I used:

Stampin' UP! - Peach Parfait, Baja Breeze and Summer Starfruit ink
Papertrey Ink - Wonderful Words Birthday & Boy Basics: Simple Circles stamps; Wonderful Words Birthday & Simple Circles (trimmed) dies; Stampers Select White Cardstock
Hero Arts - Envelope Pattern stamp
Bazzill - Horizon Cardstock
Tsukineko - Versafine Onyx Black ink

I raised the banner on dimensional foam. I stamped the blue background with a similar color using a background stamp.

And...luck was with me as I worked on this card. I had everything ready to assemble, just finished stamping the black sentiment...and I dropped the Onyx Black ink pad. It landed harmlessly on the paper covering my work table, completely missing all the card parts and pieces. Whew!
